The Main Campus university has dedicated three main Dining Halls, popularly known as ‘‘Nyayo Mess” ‘‘Western Mess’’ and ‘‘Eastern Mess’’ (all situated at strategic points in the university), for the students who are served with meals at subsidized prices. These dining Halls are only accessible to the student community, who continue to enjoy nutritious tasty meals that are pocket friendly. In the students dining halls a fortnight cyclic menu that guarantees product variety, taste and flavour through use of recipe and food colour schemes to enhance food palatability and presentation is served.

- Beans or Green Grams/Other lentils

- Fruits in season
There are tuckshops within the Dining Halls that are manned by Catering Department. These provide beverages fruits and yoghurt at market rate .The tuck shops are opened between 6.30am to 8.30pm
Rules and Regulations
- Misuse or wilful destruction of property within catering Units by a student or a group of student involved in such involved in such an act will be held wholly responsible for any damage caused.
- No utensils or crockery may be carried out of the dining hall; Kenyatta University Catering equipment is clearly marked and should remain in the dining halls.
- Any movement of cutlery and crockery must be accompanied by written permission from the catering Manager. Any student found holding KU utensils and crockery in their halls of residence will pay Kshs.500.00 for each item held illegally.
- Student are forbidden entering the kitchen, server or store without prior permission from the catering manager
- No food will be allowed into the dining hall from outside.
